Peter Garrett, Founder at Oxbridge Edge:

"Having navigated my own journey to an Oxbridge offer as a teenager, I came to appreciate just what is involved and just what is at stake. Furthermore, my pivot as I transitioned from year 12 to year 13 away from a Medicine application to a PPE (humanities) application meant that I needed to marshall my limited available time to prepare optimally in 3 new subject areas. Four decades later, it turns out that combining those two themes constitutes the heart's core of my capacity to coach the Oxbridge aspirants of 2024 and beyond."

FAQs

  • In 2023 UCAS deadline was around the 15th October, with tests about a week after that. Written work had to be submitted around the 10th November, with interviews throughout December.

Please check UCAS, Oxford University & Cambridge University for your specific dates.

  • Personal Statement should include evaluation of how key placement/ placements changed or improved you. An autobiographical narrative backbone is also very helpful. Choose two books and a MOOC and justify your choices. Explain your passion for your target Oxbridge subject and tell how that passion first arose.  Mentioning how key A levels have enhanced you academically is often a good use of characters too.

  • Choosing the right course and college to apply to requires research - sometimes statistical ; sometimes historical. What is the applicant / offer ratio for your target course at your chosen college. May also be worth exploring the bridges between your own academic special interests and those of the fellows at your target college. At the very least this will delimit your area of research in the run up to interview.

  • To prepare for an interview you should focus on eloquence and academic depth. You might place them in reverse order, but it is the subtle interplay of substance and style that will most effectively showcase your abundant academic potential and carry off your well deserved Oxbridge offer.
